The side impact test simulates a small car striking the driver’s door of the test vehicle. Experience shows that large vehicles like the Vito can be expected to perform well in this test. ANCAP has adopted a policy of awarding these types of vehicles a default score of 16 points (out of 16).

Because it lacks side head-protecting airbags, this Vito variant was not eligible for points in the pole test.
Whiplash Protection Test
Front geometry: 3.70 points
Rear geometry: [Not applicable]
AEB (City): [Not applicable]
Some Australasian Vito variants have less favourable head restraint geometry than the vehicle assessed by Euro NCAP and may provide less protection from whiplash. This does not affect the overall safety rating.
Child Protection Test
Crash Test Performance
18 month old child: 12.00 points
3 year old child: 12.00 points
Child Safety Features
Safety features: 7.00 points
Installation check: 12.00 points
NOTE: The child restraints tested by Euro NCAP are relevant to the European market. For Australasian consumers, this information should be used as a guide to vehicle features only. For more detailed information about Australian child restraints visit childcarseats.com.au.
Acceptable
Pedestrian Summary
Adult & child head impacts: 14.14 points
Upper leg impacts: [Not tested]
Lower leg impacts: 6.00 points
This vehicle scored 20.14 out of 30 points (Acceptable). Owing to the height and geometry of the front of the test vehicle, no tests were performed against the front edge of the bonnet. The protection provided against head injury on the bonnet surface was mostly in the range from marginal to good, with poor results recorded on the stiff windscreen pillars. The bumper scored maximum points in Euro NCAP tests, offering good protection to pedestrians' legs. (Tested by Euro NCAP v7 Heavy Vehicles)
Pedestrian Rating Explained
The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) provides consumers with independent and transparent information on the level of occupant and pedestrian protection provided by different new car models, in the most common types of crashes, through its star rating program.
