ANCAP 2013 5 five star

The Ford Falcon FG X Ute was introduced in Australia and New Zealand in late 2014. This ANCAP safety rating is based on ANCAP tests conducted in 2008 and 2010 and technical information provided by Ford. It applies to all variants, including all engines and all fuels.

In the frontal offset crash test, driver chest protection was acceptable. Passenger chest and leg protection was acceptable. In the side impact test, driver chest protection was acceptable. Head protection in the side pole test was good.

Dual frontal, side chest and side head airbags (curtains) are standard. Antilock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD) and electronic stability control (ESC) are also standard. Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to both front seats.

The passenger compartment held its shape well in the frontal offset test. Pedal and steering wheel displacements were well controlled. Driver and passenger contact with the airbags was stable. All doors
remained closed during the crash. After the crash, all doors could be opened with normal effort. There were no knee hazards with the tunnel-mounted transmission control.

For variants where the transmission control is mounted on the steering column, due to knee hazards, a 2 point deduction applies however that variant retains a 5 star rating (frontal offset score 12.62, overall score 32.58).

The following are based on ANCAP's tests of the Falcon sedan:
Child head impacts: 7.25 points
Adult head impacts: 2.10 points
Upper leg impacts: 0.00 points
Lower leg impacts: 1.60 points

The bonnet had some good results for head protection but most tested points were poor. The bonnet leading edge was poor. The bumper provided a mixture of acceptable and poor protection. (v4.1)
