The Proton Suprima S is to be introduced in Australia from December 2013. The Suprima S is the hatch version of the Proton Preve, which received a 5 star ANCAP safety rating in February 2013. Proton has provided technical evidence to ANCAP showing that the Suprima S provides comparable occupant protection to the Preve.

In the frontal offset crash test, driver chest and leg protection was acceptable. Passenger chest protection was acceptable. In the side impact crash, test driver chest protection was acceptable. Performance in the side pole test was good.

Dual frontal, side chest and side head airbags (curtains) are standard. Antilock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD) and electronic stability control (ESC) are also standard. Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to both front seats.

The passenger compartment held its shape well in the frontal offset test. Pedal and steering wheel displacements were well controlled. Driver and passenger contact with the airbags was stable. All doors remained closed during the crash. After the crash, all doors could be opened with normal effort.

The bonnet provided protection in some of the child head impact areas. The windscreen frame provided poor results for the adult head area. The bumper scored mixed results for pedestrian leg protection. Upper leg scores were poor.
