Dual front airbags, driver knee airbag, side airbags and head-protecting side curtains are standard equipment. Antilock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD) and electronic stability control (ESC) are also standard. The Eyesight system with many crash avoidance functions is available as an option.

Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to both front seats. Pretensioners are fitted to the front seat belts to reduce slack in the event of a crash.

The passenger compartment held its shape well in the frontal offset test. There was a slight risk of serious chest and leg injury for the driver and passenger. The accelerator pedal moved rearwards by 43mm and upwards 36mm. The steering wheel hub moved 48mm forward, 6mm downward and 23mm sideways. The front (“A”) pillar moved 4mm rearwards. All doors remained closed during the crash. After the crash all doors could be opened with normal effort.

The airbag cushioned the head of the driver and contact was stable. The passenger’s head was cushioned by the airbag. There were no knee hazards.

Pedestrian Summary

The bumper scored maximum points for the protection it provided to pedestrians' legs. However, the front edge of the bonnet was poor in all areas tested and scored no points. In most areas where the bonnet would be struck by the head of an adult or that of a child, the bonnet provided good protection against serious injury.
